During the year of 1950, two (2) empty lots were purchased with the aid of the central jurisdiction conference. Rev. Murray would pick up members in his Plymouth interested in establishing the church at the corner of N.W. 71st Street and 15th Court. Church services were held at various homes (Sis. Hogan, Sis. Perthone, Sis. Mitchell, and others). Later in the 1940s, church services were held in one of the classrooms of Dorsey High School at 17th Ave. and N.W. 71st Street. Rev. Perry was one of the pastors that dressed in a tuxedo with tails to conduct church services. After leaving the high school, Rev. W.O. Bartley conducted services at the Liberty Square Community Center. Barbeque dinners and fish dinners were sold on the empty lots to help raise money for the building fund to construct the main building.

Willie Jones and his wife Pauline Jones joined the church and were active in arranging and completing repairs needed for the roof. Bro. Jones trained several members of the church to install shingles to the roof in 1965.
During the time when Rev. Hurbert was the pastor in 1965, Bro. Joseph Cooper was instrumental in working on roof repairs along with the steeple area of the church where wood had decayed and new wood members were installed. | During the 1970s, plans were drawn by the engineering office of Charles C. Mitchell for the addition of the social hall to the main building of the church. Construction started in the 1980s by A. Ferguson Construction Company. Bro. Joe Cooper was chairman of the administrative board and was instrumental in negotiating the cost for construction.
